Think About Size
Smaller artwork is simpler to come by, it's much easier to store and it's really generally cheaper - so most people have far more small stuff, which works great if you have a snug bedroom, or a cramped hallway. However in an expansive room with high ceilings? Not really much.
Think about the wall membrane around a piece of art within the art. You want to buy to be a natural extension of what's there. In case the art's too small, it will be overwhelmed by the emptiness and go away - and it'll produce a timid and helpless vibe. Whether it's too big, it'll feel like a huge wearing too-small pants - also not a good look.
For large spots, there are several solutions: the foremost is simply looking for larger pieces of art. The second reason is to choose something that's not a framed image (more about this below). And the third is by using several works of art in combination with each other, to make a larger piece.
With high ceilings and large wall surfaces, a small piece of artwork above the foundation simply won't do.
For example, in my own home, the bed room (pictured above) has vaulted ceilings that reach 17 legs in height. A little dinky framed thing above the bed simply wasn't going to trim it. I needed something bigger.
Choose a Type of Art work That Works
Art work isn't simply a framed printing or poster. There are quite a few other decorative choices you may make. For example, buying a wall-mounted shelf and adding figurines or vases onto it can be considered a smart way to decorate a larger space using collectibles that you curently have. Or, getting aggregate designs to take up a larger space can work well, like this Umbra Wallflower placed - check out their site for additional options.
Other choices include mounting decorative plates in a row, adding a large reflection or using decals - which are surprisingly hip and frequently look good. Check out WallPops!, for a few ideas.
When deciding what you would like to put up a wall membrane, it's okay to believe outside the pack. A big framed picture is usually the least interesting (and often priciest) choice. (Though, for my bedroom example, I chose three 16"x20" framed prints - fairly orthodox.)
Choose carefully what you may spend your cash on
Be cautious the material you need and you'll be always right
The material a product is constructed of is not only a synonym of quality, but functionality, cleanliness and sustainability. When you are going to buy something, once more, we have to be cautious and consider what are the optimal materials and which benefits they provides us.
One example are the furniture manufactured from fiberboard vs the wood furniture. At the beginning, they could look very similar but, after a while and you use them, the fiberboard ones began to get bended, the surface finishes begin to look bad while, if you buy wood, it would be more stable and can stay in perfect conditions for years. Your house, it was created to last for a long time, isn't it? If you too have toddlers or you know that your home can get easily soiled, it is very important to fit the bill: materials like a glass, marble for the kitchen or floor tiles instead or parquet floor coverings can be considered a a lot more convenient option. Lastly, we've also to think which materials encourage us and also, what signifies to get them: as I've said before, if you order a door to a carpenter, this door would be unique and, probably, the timber employed to make it would come from more honorable and ecological resources than an industrial one.
You can even choose ecological products as the authorized woods or the recycled eyeglasses. This way, you are not only adding to make the world more sustainable, but the material you will have at home is telling a tale: before it was a tree, but in its place another tree has been planted to keep carefully the forest the same. This light was before a a glass bottle that, if recycle, it was likely heading to end as silicon for street pavement. This little details are the ones that make your house design unique.
It's clear that the majority of us don't have money to shed. Likewise, I'm sure that sometime you have done a compulsive acquisition only to feel different and, a while later, you regretted it. It happens to all of us. That is why I let you know that it's far better to buy with conscience not to regret later our impulsive alternatives when you feel down.
The tip I can give you is the fact that, when you are going to buy, think how much what exactly are you heading to utilize this object, if it's heading to be useful in the home and, although you do not have the big bucks, not to concentrate on the price however in the quality of what you are buying. If it's something you really need, it is better to buy something with quality even it means doing and investment or not buying other things. Once more, what counts is that you are happy. Bear in mind also that you get what you pay for.
Moreover, remember the power of your cash. When you buy something, you are aiding an economical model or another. Big brands or helping local businesses and entrepreneurs.
